The animals in my life...

My pet’s names are Panda (Cinderella) and Koala (the princess); they were both rescued, as kittens, and saved by ME!
Panda, who’s about 9 years old, was a diarrhea case and has had problems ever since, she also has mouth ulcers now…
Koala (17 months old) was practically dying when I grabbed her rotting little body from the wall where she sat energiless, in central Leiria; there was absolutely no struggle from her part…
Her prolapsed rectum was what caught my attention; I thought she had been run over and left there to die, but no, she was the victim of prolonged diarrhea which can lead to prolapse and eventual death. For 3 weeks I soaked her daily – she smelled like rotting meat, hoping that the prolapse would shrink down and reenter her frail little body, but it didn’t. She ended up having a manual procedure to reinsert the prolapse, but it failed, and then she had an abdominal surgery, which so far has been successful (14 months have passed), thank the good Lord! The entire family pitched in, along with some members of the animal site Felinus, for the vet expenses which were close to 700 euros; she’s quite the beautiful pussy cat now!
Last Sunday, May 3rd, 2009, I found a pretty white dog running around in circles in the street, constantly risking to be run over and left there suffering; once again I grabbed this animal and brought her to my house while trying to locate her owner, but was almost sure that she had been dumped, as is the custom here! After 4 days of intense work and re-adaptation I was starting to enjoy this canine companion; we went for long walks in the fields where she used up most of her excessive, youthful energy! Today, my sister and I even baptized as “Branda”; we had plans for the little bitch, but then the inevitable happened…As we come close to my local café a stranger approached me and asked, “Is that dog yours?”. I obviously told the woman the truth and she claimed to be the owner of the animal, so our “Branda” left with her rightful owner.
Deep down inside I felt that the woman hadn’t really minded the loss of the animal, since it had been 4 days and she lives only 1 km away, she also seemed to know that the dog had gotten lost in this small village, and I had left photos of the dog in all the hot spots…My “movie” is that she started to feel guilty because she has young children and they certainly were missing Angela (the dog’s real name), so today she decided to pass by and take a peak!
Good luck Branda!
Koala is on my lap…

Amar perdidamente...

Acredito no amor,
com ou sem dor,
é como se fosse uma flor;
precisa de cuidados,
palavras e carinhos,
gestos e beijinhos…
chega-te a mim, por favor
confia-me o teu “cuore”,
hidrata-me com teu suor…
Sê o meu AMOR!
